Early Work Package Construction Activity to Increase by Mid-November

November 4, 2026

Work is progressing at the Water Pollution Control Plant as part of Arlington Re-Gen, a multi-year effort to make the plant cleaner, greener and ready for the future. Several upcoming construction activities, including drilled pile installation and demolition work, may be more noticeable to nearby residents.

Drilled Pile Installation

Drilled pile installation is expected to begin in mid-November and continue into early December. This process involves drilling holes into the ground and filling them with reinforced concrete to support the foundations of the new structures at the plant. Drilled pile installation typically produces less noise and vibration than other similar construction methods, although nearby residents may still hear construction equipment during the day while work is underway.

Demolition Activities

Demolition is underway as we make room for new facilities. We have started removing the brick façade on a building that will be fully demolished as part of this project. Approximately 70% of the original building materials have been recycled for use in future construction. Crews will also begin demolishing a retaining wall in November.

Larger scale demolition work is planned to begin in mid-November to clear the building’s footprint for construction of new processing facilities.
